Swapping
Support for Synergy: Getting More from Get-togethers
Perpetual Motion, according to Wikipedia.org,
refers to "a device or system that delivers more energy than
was put into it."
Come explore ways to get more umph out of collaborations, from
business buddies to writers groups. In this workshop, limited
to a dozen participants, I'll guide each of us to define innovative
and inspired interactions with others that will bring about more
clarity, productivity, creativity and enjoyment in our daily lives.
We'll create sustainable and rewarding ways
for each participant to compound what comes from your time and
effort with those you know.
When I work alone, I can get a lot done. I
can also get a lot not done. I can put myself into
a state of inspiration, of motivation, of clarification. I've
also been known to slide into states of procrastination, isolation,
obsessive compulsion... And when I'm alone, I don't get objective
perspectives, I don't laugh, I don't teach and learn from those
I know.
I'm doing as much as I can alone.
So I look to my collaborators. We're brainstorming.
We're sharing best practices. We're offering objective feedback.
We're committed to showing up for each other, often more than
we would show up for ourselves. These collaborations are anything
from workout partners to study buddies... Writers groups. Women's
groups. Even professional groups, like Success Teams or Business
Networking International.
Each time I swap support with others we get
synergy.
Synergy?
We've heard that word in vague contexts from
workplace morale pep rallies and political peeps. Do we even know
what it means anymore?
syn·er·gy [sin-er-jee]
–noun
1. The interaction of two or more agents
or forces so that their combined effect is greater than the sum
of their individual effects.
Ahh... So 1 + 1 = more than 2.
That's the kind of compounding results I want
for my financial investments.
So that's what I want for my investments of
time, effort and connections.
Join a dozen of us as we explore working with
others so that all our individual outcomes rise the tide that
raises all ships.
We'll cover:
* the phenomenon of accountability, integrity, teamwork, creative
competition and synergy
* where we each see these benefits in our lives, and how we could
create more
* what stops us from swapping support with others more than we
do
* what next steps would serve each of us best
* different types of collaborations, from two friends tag-teaming
each other's housecleaning, to formalized challenge groups and
master mind groups.
We'll explore how to create, and refine
existing groups, from agreement on structure and intentions,
to removing drama and distraction that doesn't serve the members.
Let's remind ourselves how to: * pioneer our paths
* play with a purpose
* fuel our funk and our functions
